‘Chapman and Leigh are so responsive and extraordinarily creative. You should be so proud of your design.'
Kym Amor, Principal
With an extensive focus on student wellbeing at the college, the sporting and kinesiology centre features innovative facilities to support student activity and encourage excellence.
The centre boasts a fully equipped gym, kinesiology centre and a sports and recreation hall, fitted out with two full size sports courts.
The hall also features a stage for school performances. The sports hall was designed to maximise natural light and ventilation for students and spectators.
The top portion of the hallis encased in polycarbonate windows, to shield the space and also fill with ample natural light to lower the need for artificial lighting.
Roller shutters were featured along the lower level sides to boost ventilation and link to the external open-air amphitheatre.
A mezzanine level balcony is featured in the sports hall to give spectators a viewing platform, and allow the courts to be an uninterrupted space for students.
The balcony is flanked by the two entries to the venue and opens to a central kiosk. The specialist centre is a hive of activity for the school and excitement and energy that it generates can be felt upon arrival at Foxwell College, with an immediate link to the hall from the arrival plaza.
