Working with the Sunshine Coast Council, Open Architecture Studio was a key collaborator on the master plan for a 75ha regional sports and recreation precinct. The master plan, designed in tandem with Green Edge Design, accommodates all levels of activity and including children's and nature play areas, dog walking, cycling, a skate plaza, high-level team sports and extensive landscaping.
Open led the design for the precinct's three clubhouses, which provide connected, functional spaces that can service multiple user groups. Drawing on Sunshine Coast Design Principles, the climate-sensitive buildings use robust yet beautiful materials that will soften into the landscape over time.
Project benefits
Open's master plan and clubhouses offer something for everyone, supporting the Council's vision for an active, healthy community. The site has been carefully planned to meet the current and future needs of the region's rapidly growing population. Building materials are specified to deliver long-term value, with the use of cross-laminated timber panels internally offering excellent fire resistance and faster construction times.
